How to Start Writing on LinkedIn (Beginner's Guide)
A go-to beginner's guide to start their writing journey on LinkedIn and make a living online.
LinkedIn is one of the professional platforms that makes a lot of people’s dreams come true.
Every business and professional has their presence on LinkedIn, so it can be enough to make a living online if you avail yourself of the opportunity in the right way.
Most beginners don’t know how to start on LinkedIn to get paid.
Well, it’s not rocket science, but it can be if you are not willing to learn.
I am here to break it down and make it easy for you to begin your journey and move towards making your dreams come true.
Let’s begin.
Creating a profile
Of course, you need to create a profile, and the process is simple.
Sign up and create an account.
I suggest using your real name; however, people also choose to name their profile as a brand or in a different way.
However, I believe your name is the real brand, as it adds authenticity and sounds professional.
Optimise your profile
The main thing is optimising your profile because your profile is your first impression, and you know that first impressions are always important.
How to optimise?
Name: Real name is recommended.
Bio: It’s a tagline. Let’s say it’s a hook.
Education: Your educational background, including degrees and certificates.
Institute: Your school.
About: Now it’s the details of the cover letter about your skills, education, experience, and more.
Starting to write on LinkedIn
I must say personal branding is all that works to attract clients and build a community.
However, you can try all options, and actually, you should.
#1. Personal branding
Choose a niche or two. Topics you want to talk about. Let’s say you are a writer.
You must diversify topics within the domain and share tips, tricks, and personal journeys.
Well, strategy is the main thing.
Make a strategy for posting content.
For example, a weekly content strategy.
Day 1: Tips and tricks on writing. Or anything relevant.
Day 2: Personal stories.
Day 3: Carousel post
And repeat the pattern on the remaining days.
It’s just an example. You have to create a strategy based on your creativity, conviction, or ideas.
Many people just post carousel posts.
Many people just do simple posts.
Some people post articles as well to monetise writing via affiliate programmes. And some people solely write articles and do professional blogging because their purpose is to drive traffic from Google.
LinkedIn is a variety; it’s up to you which way you want to go.
Monetisation option
How does earning come your way?
Personal branding drives you leads. (Collaboration, freelancing and more)
You can use the job board to apply. (Freelance opportunities)
Blogging can drive commission through affiliate programmes. (Affiliate)
Also, people post in their feeds about jobs; you can pitch to them as well. (Note: many people post fake jobs, so you must know how to avoid them.)
Wrapping up
Is it an overnight story? The simple answer is no.
If you show consistency and dedication, nobody can stop you from reaching your goals.
Well, if you are thinking of giving one or two days, then I don't think it’ll work.
Whether it’s LinkedIn, writing sites or freelance platforms, only those who show their availability win. Your presence, dedication, creativity, and consistency are the keys to success.
